Minister of Information, Attorney Dr. Paul Morcos, on Monday announced that “the Cabinet has begun discussing the Financial Gap draft law, with the discussion to be continued tomorrow.”
Minister Morcos also pointed out that “President General Joseph Aoun briefed the Council of Ministers on the details of the Lebanese army commander’s visit to France, and said that it was positive.”
Minister Morcos said: “The Prime Minister emphasized that the financial gap draft law is realistic and feasible, and its aim is to ensure fairness for depositors and restore recovery to the banking sector. The longer we delay its approval, the more public and international confidence declines.”
The Minister also announced that “IDAL’s board of directors has been appointed,” adding that “the Cabinet took note of the Ministry of Agriculture’s plan to combat foot-and-mouth disease, and approved the Egyptian donation for vaccination.”
