Minister of Information Paul Morcos opened the “TV and Media Standards” workshop by Beirut Media, addressing media students and activists.
Minister Morcos emphasized that professional ethics must come from journalists themselves, and the ministry sees itself as a partner, not a controller.
Morcos encouraged young media students to overcome fear and pessimism, embrace creativity, and leverage technology, AI, and smartphones to create their own opportunities.He urged careful and ethical use of social media
On the new media law, the Minister noted it is a regional model enhancing press freedom, eliminating imprisonment for journalists’ opinions, and imposing fines through clear, effective procedures. The law was developed with experts and international guidance, including UNESCO.
