Lebanese Ministry of Information
As part of her endeavors to organize the work of electronic media websites in Lebanon, Minister of Information, Dr. Manal Abdel Samad Najd, met with a number of publishers of these websites with the aim of hearing their opinions and listening to their concerns, especially in the absence of legal frameworks that regulate their work.
Minister Abdel Samad revealed that a specialized team at the Ministry of Information is currently working on developing legal and regulatory amendments, with the new media law to include these websites.
“We are working to organize the work of media and media professionals, to ensure their rights under the ceiling of the law… and to this end, we are cooperating with all those concerned to come up with the best solutions and recommendations,” Minister Abdel Samad corroborated.
The Minister pointed out that “the proposed amendments to the old media law are being addressed,” describing these amendments as modern and advanced that take into account international changes and standards.
In turn, publishers of electronic websites lauded Minister Abdel Samad’s efforts in following up on their case and maintaining communication with them in pursuit of their opinion, deeming her communication work mechanism as “a precedent in the history of the ministry.”
