The inauguration ceremony of King Salman Avenue in Beirut

A major event Tuesday to open an avenue named after Saudi King Salman at Beirut’ Water Front brought key politicians including Prime Minister Saad Hariri, Lebanese Forces head Samir Geagea and Progressive Socialist Party head Walid Jumblatt.

The event, that saw nearby skyscrapers lit up in the colors of the Saudi flag, brought together key politicians, particularly those from the now disintegrated, Saudi supported, March 14 camp.

Senior Saudi envoy Nizar Aloula was in attendance, in addition to Saudi Minister Plenipotentiary Charge d’Affaires Walid Bukhari.

“The history between Lebanon and Saudi Arabia will not be broken, regardless how much they try. And this Beirut evening is a clear message that Lebanon’s Arabism is progressing over all other loyalties, axis and equations,” Hariri said in his speech.

He added that the inauguration of the avenue was a mark of appreciation to King Salman who stood beside Lebanon in the difficult times.
