Information Minister Inaugurates Training Course On Archive Preservation, Digitization In Cooperation With French Embassy

Minister of Information, Ziad al-Makary, on Wednesday inaugurated a training course on archive preservation and digitization at the National News Agency’s training hall.

This course is part of a series of other training courses within the framework of a project to “Preserve, Digitize, and Evaluate the Archives of Radio Lebanon, Tele Liban, the National Agency, and the Directorate of Studies and Research” in cooperation with the French Embassy in Beirut.

“This is the most important project being carried out by the Ministry of Information, and it is taking place in cooperation with the French Embassy and “ALENA” Institute in Paris, which is one of the most prestigious institutes in the world in terms of archive preservation,” Al-Marakry said.

He stressed that since his appointment as Minister of Information, he had placed this project among the ministry’s priorities.

“You are responsible for this work, which remains one of our most important accomplishments, despite the circumstances that we currently endure, because you’re endeavoring to protect the memories of a homeland, some of which are beautiful and some are painful. We must take advantage of those beautiful memories to say that Lebanon will be able to rise again; it is from painful memories that we learn from our mistakes,” Al-Makary said as addressing trainees.

For her part, trainer Elodie Belkorchia discussed the method of work and the importance of the archiving process. She also highlighted the paramount importance of exchanging of expertise between both sides.
