Makary Salutes ‘Radio Lebanon’ Marking World Radio Day

Caretaker Minister of Information, Ziad Makary, saluted the Lebanese radio stations and their employees, especially state-run Radio Lebanon (Radio Liban), on the occasion of the World Radio Day, celebrated this year under the theme “Radio and Peace”.

In an interview with “Radio Lebanon” program this morning, Caretaker Minister Makary saluted all radio stations “that are struggling in an era of technology dominance,” and especially saluted Radio Lebanon, whose employees are making great sacrifices for the sake of maintaining the Station’s continuity.

“Without their struggle, the radio would not have continued,” the Minister said.

Makary stressed that “the Ministry is making great administrative efforts to address the problems that the radio station suffers from, and in this regard the MoI is holding the necessary meetings, as it works to improve technologies and bring in aid for the Station’s continuity.”

“Everything we can do administratively, we will do it to the fullest,” the Minister said, underlining that he will strive to keep the radio station existing.

For his part, Radio Lebanon Director, Mohammed Gharib, affirmed that “the radio is making a great effort to preserve its existence and its great history.” Gharib saluted all the station’s employees who are working with utmost passion and love to deliver its message and its role in delivering the word that unites the Lebanese rather than splitting them apart.

In turn, Program Director at Radio Lebanon (Radio Liban), Rita Noujaim El Roumi, revealed that two programs will be broadcasted soon, the first dwelling on religious tourism in Lebanon, and the second marking the declaration of Beirut as the capital of Arab media for the year 2023.

UNESCO Information and Communication Officer, George Awad, for his part, saluted all radio stations and Radio Lebanon, “which are able to stand resilient in light of the difficult circumstances that Lebanon is going through.”
