Minister of Information, Dr. Manal Abdel Samad Najd, on Monday welcomed a delegation representing the Lebanese Army’s Directorate of Orientation.
Both sides discussed the exclusive measures by the Directorate to organize foreign media work on Lebanese soil.
The delegation assured Minister Abdul Samad about the accuracy of the procedures that have been in effect for several years, which neither affect journalistic work, nor surpass the role of the Ministry of Information.
The delegation made clear that the Directorate did not give permissions to foreign media reporters, “except for journalists who obtain a press card from the Ministry of Information’s Correspondents Hall.”
For her part, Abdel Samad stressed the paramount importance of permanent cooperation to protect Lebanese and non-Lebanese media professionals alike.
She also stressed the need for foreign media to respect the Lebanese laws in force.
