Makary: Media Plays Role In Calls For Raprochement, But Also In Division

Caretaker Minister of Information, Ziad Makary, stressed the role played by media in advancing dialogue, and even in causing schism.

“Media plays a pivotal and essential role in the calls for rapprochement and dialogue, but also in rift and division,” Makary told a conference on the role of media means in the formulation of a positive political rhetoric in Lebanon.

“Why are we rejecting the hand that is held out to us?” he asked. “Why are we rejecting rapprochement and dialogue?”

“Obstinacy is the answer,” he continued. “But obstinacy does not build nations,” he concluded.
