Breaking: 1 New Coronavirus Death Recorded in Lebanon

With the announcement of the total of coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in Lebanon on Friday, March 27th, the Ministry of Public Health confirmed 1 new death related to the disease.

The daily coronavirus report released by the Health Ministry said the deceased was suffering from chronic diseases before his death at Saint George University Hospital.

The ministry also said that the patient was in the eighth decade of his life when he passed away. With this new death, the total of coronavirus-related fatalities in Lebanon has become 7 as of Friday, March 27th.

In accordance with the latest confirmed data, the mortality rate for the disease in the country is now approximately at 1.79%, while that of recovery is about 5.88%.

The patient who passed away in the past 24 hours, while he did suffer from chronic illnesses, was not among the coronavirus cases considered in critical condition.

The number of critical cases remains 3 (8%) as of Friday, according to the Health Ministry’s latest data.

74% of the remaining 358 active cases are considered mild/moderate, while the rest (17%) are asymptomatic, meaning they do carry the disease but show no symptoms of it.

Yesterday, March 26th, the Ministry of Public Health confirmed 2 coronavirus-related deaths in its daily COVID-19 report. The ministry also announced 35 new coronavirus cases on the same date.

A day later, today, the Health Ministry confirmed 23 new cases of the coronavirus, bringing the total of cases in Lebanon to 391.
