The Italian-Arab Friendship Association, represented by the Head of the Association’s economic committee, Abdel Qader Omeish, and media official, Talal Khreis, on Thursday honored the National News Agency’s editorial team members, in appreciation of NNA employees’ efforts working under difficult circumstances in order to keep it an inclusive platform for all Lebanese segments.
Marking the occasion, a luncheon banquet was held at the NNA “May 25 hall”, attended by Caretaker Information Minister, Ziad Makary, Ministry’s Director General Dr. Hassan Falha, National News Agency (NNA) Director Ziad Harfouche, “Radio Lebanon” Director, Mohammed Gharib, Ministry’s Diwan Department Head Walid Al-Flaiti, Director of Lebanese Studies Department Khodor Majed, NNA Editor-in-Chief Rana Shehabeldine, and several NNA employees and heads of ministry departments.
In his delivered word, Caretaker Minister Makary thanked the Association for its initiative to honor the journalists of the “National News Agency”, heaping praise on NNA employees’ continued efforts and productivity under difficult conditions, in order to keep the state news Agency resounding in the media horizon, relaying the actual and realistic image with all honesty, transparency and without discrimination.
Makary pledged to continue to endeavor to achieve justice for the employees of the “National News Agency” and of all Ministry departments and sections.
Speaking afterwards, Omeish expressed the Association’s appreciation of the NNA journalists’ relentless work and sacrifices under harsh working conditions, saying: “will not fail to support you in international forums until Lebanon emerges from its ordeal more resolutely and more cohesively, and for you to convey the true image of Lebanon abroad.”
Information Ministry’s Director General, Dr. Hassan Falha, in turn, hailed the role of the Italian Arab Friendship Association for being amongst the first to help the NNA repair damages caused by the Beirut Port explosion.
“This matter strengthens the continuity of the National News Agency, and it also strengthens the relationship between Italy and Lebanon at the cultural, social and economic level,” Dr. Falha maintained.
For his part, National News Agency (NNA) Director, Ziad Harfouche, gave a briefing on the prevailing conditions endured by the National News Agency, and hailed the NNA’s news team members, who “embody the true image of the homeland.”
