Makary Meets Delegations Representing Editors Syndicate, Episcopal Media Commission, Jad Association

Minister of Information, Ziad Al-Makary, on Monday welcomed in his office at the Ministry, a delegation of the Editors’ Syndicate, headed by its Dean Joseph Kosseifi.

Discussions reportedly touched on the current general situation in the country, and an array of media affairs.

Dean Kosseifi outlined the most important problems facing the media sector in Lebanon, most notably the absence of a comprehensive and integrated modern law regulating the media in Lebanon, as a substitute for the outdated Publications Law.

On emerging, Minister Makary said that the meeting touched on several projects designed for the television and the media on the eve of the parliamentary elections, adding: “We agreed to hold further meetings since we’re short of time with the elections approaching.”

Separately, Minister Makary received a delegation of the Episcopal Commission for media outlets, headed by Bishop Antoine Nabil Andari, accompanied by the Director of the Catholic Information Center Father Abdo Abu Kassam, as well as Father Antoine Atallah.

Following the meeting, Bishop Andari said they paid a congratulatory visit to the Minister on his new ministerial post, wishing him success in his new mission.

Moreover, Minister Makary received a delegation representing the Jad Association, headed by its President Joseph Hawat, who extended to him an invitation to visit their Specialized Training Center in Byblos.

The Minister of Information separately welcomed a delegation from the World Federation of Digital Information and Technology in the Middle East and North Africa headed by Captain George Khoueiri.

The delegation presented several projects related to the ministry and discussed other public affairs, especially within the framework of digital technology and information.
