Breaking: 16 New Coronavirus Cases in Lebanon, Total of 479

On April 1st, the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health recorded 16 new coronavirus (COVID-19) cases. The ministry announced the new total of cases in its daily coronavirus report released on Wednesday.

“Until 01/04/2020, the total of laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 cases at Rafik Hariri University Hospital, accredited university hospital laboratories, as well as private laboratories has reached 479 after 16 cases were recorded since yesterday,” the report said.

The report also revealed that the new cases were confirmed to be coronavirus-positive out of 490 tests conducted in the past 24 hours.

Moreover, “no new deaths have been recorded [today], and the number of deaths related to the virus, to date, has settled to twelve.”

The number of total recoveries has risen to 37 on the same date. Taking the latest updates into account, the total of active cases is now 430, 7 of which are considered severe.

In the press conference held after the March 31st cabinet session, the Minister of Information said that the plan to allow Lebanese expatriates to return home will begin implementation this week.

For expatriates to return to Lebanon, they are required to first fill a form and test negative for coronavirus.

The latest data shared by the Ministry of Public Health shows that, since the first coronavirus case was announced in Lebanon on February 21st, 6,799 coronavirus tests have been conducted in the country.

Furthermore, as of Wednesday, 1,174 people are in quarantine in the Lebanese hospitals accredited by the Health Ministry.

In its coronavirus report, the ministry continues to stress the importance of committing to the government’s general mobilization guidelines and self-isolation.

It urges citizens to adhere to all preventive measures, especially washing hands frequently and committing to complete domestic isolation.

Yesterday, March 31st, the Health Ministry’s coronavirus report revealed that the total of coronavirus cases in Lebanon became 463 after 17 new cases were recorded on Tuesday.
