Minister of Information, Dr. Manal Abdel Samad Najd, on Wednesday welcomed in her office at the Ministry Director of the Beirut-based Regional Bureau of the UNESCO for Education in the Arab States Hamad Bin Saif al-Hammami, on Wednesday.
Discussions reportedly touched on the bilateral relations between the Information Ministry and UNESCO and prospects of strengthening cooperation.
On emerging, al-Hammami said the visit comes as a culmination of the existing relations between UNESCO and the Lebanese Information Ministry, hoping this cooperation would be ongoing and furtehr consolidated.
He said that he discussed with the Minister several ideas, including setting up an academy for media training for journalists in Lebanon, disclosing that media training workshops will be held within the next two months.
Al Hammami added that they dwelt on the issue of freedom of expression and the press.
Minister Abdel Samad highlighted the issue of false and fabricated news, confirming her plan to work on seeking a project on this subject, based on modern techniques.
